About

Clinician-led. Independently driven.

Adverus Value Strategies is a clinician-founded, independently led consultancy — built on the premise that the most durable healthcare strategy comes from advisors who have worked inside the system they are helping to redesign.

Our founder holds active clinical credentials alongside graduate training in economics and business — a combination that allows every engagement to move fluidly between bedside reality and financial strategy without losing either. We partner with health systems, provider organizations, and payers navigating value-based transformation, with particular depth in population health, risk model design, and clinical-financial integration.

Our independence is structural, not incidental. Every engagement is led directly by our founder — no junior staff, no hand-offs, no competing firm interests. You engage an expert, and that expert does the work.

We believe that when doing right sits at the core of system design, success can be measured in better wellness for patients and providers — as well as positive financial returns.

Lacy Heiberger founded Adverus Value Strategies after nearly two decades working across every layer of healthcare — from direct patient care and national consulting to health plan strategy, state Medicaid policy, and executive leadership at a major academic physician group. That breadth is deliberate: value-based care only works when you understand all the parts it touches.

Most recently, as Chief of Practice Innovation at the University of Virginia Physicians Group — a 1,500-provider multi-specialty practice supporting an academic medical center with approximately $1B in annual charges — Lacy led system-wide transition into value-based models. She tripled contracted lives to nearly 70% market coverage within two years, achieved consistent 30–40% year-over-year value-based revenue growth, and built an interdisciplinary team from one employee to nineteen while maintaining a Press Ganey leadership index of 100/100. She managed contracts generating over $2.4M in annual value-based revenue and drove 10% year-over-year improvement in contractual quality performance.

Her foundation is deliberately cross-disciplinary. Active clinical licensure combined with a Bachelor's in Economics from the University of Virginia, an MBA from the University of Richmond, and the Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) designation gives her a fluency in both bedside reality and financial strategy that few advisors in this space can claim. She is also trained in Lean, Six Sigma, and GE's Change Acceleration Process.

Recognized by Pearl Health as a Top 50 Value-Based Care Thinker in both 2024 and 2025, Lacy has spoken at Becker's Hospital Review and Modern Healthcare's Value-Based Care Virtual Briefing, served on the Virginia Center for Health Innovation Leadership Council (2022–2025), lectured at the Darden School of Business, and contributed to published Center for Healthcare Strategies research on value in Medicaid home- and community-based care.

She is widely regarded as a trusted advisor and collaborative leader — known for translating clinical complexity into financial strategy and organizational action. Outside of work, Lacy is devoted to her husband, Sam, and their three sons, who regularly remind her that even the most disciplined Lean methodology has its limits.

"Lacy's leadership and expertise have been instrumental in positioning our organization to navigate a rapidly evolving healthcare landscape and to continue delivering high-quality, sustainable care for the patients and communities we serve. Her contributions have left a lasting foundation on which we will continue to build."
